Importing a Vehicle
If the vehicle is foreign-made, it must meet US standard even if it has to be modified. Foreign-made vehicles must be modified to meet U.S. standards by a company that's This modification can be done in any other US states expect Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam or Alaska.
If the vehicle is more than 25 years old, it will not comply with the Federal Motor vehicle safety standard. It has to be less than 25 years old. A certification label is required for all vehicles to make the importation process easier.
The person who is buying a vehicle overseas should make sure that the seller verifies certification in the contract and make sure the certification label is attached and in full view. The vehicle that does not conform to this certification label cannot be imported. The seller should be a registered importer to be able to modify the vehicle.
