Expectations when Shipping a Car
Car transporters may not be able to provide exact pick up and delivery time frames. The possibility of traffic breakdowns or traffic jams can cause delays along the way. You must be prepared to have patience to make your car transporting experience very positive.
Make sure you discuss the payment options and terms with the auto transporters. A lot of car shipping companies will ask for a deposit before they ship the vehicle. Pay with a credit card to track the order and to use in case of a dispute.
The pick up process of your vehicle includes inspecting a car that is properly cleaned by the owner. Scratches and dents must be noted and you can take pictures to keep in case of any damage or problems.
The auto company’s driver will arrive to pick up your vehicle and both of you can inspect the vehicle for any additional damages. Since you already took pictures and noted the state of the car, the driver’s inspection should be easy. Make sure the auto transporter verify any information that you give.
Your driver will also be able to answer any questions regarding your shipping. You can use that time to confirm the contract agreement from the car shipping company to make sure that the information the driver has is correct.
When the car is delivered, the driver or auto shipping company rep must inspect it and record any damages. You or someone acting on your behalf should be there to confirm or verify anything that the driver indicates. Check the odometer again and be sure to start the car for any mechanical issues.
If your car has arrived with any additional damages, then you have to file a claim with the auto transport company within 24 hours. Let the driver confirm by signing to acknowledge the damage.
In most cases, if the car is delivered and everything is noted, then that completes the shipping process. If your experience was good, then you can be a good referral for the auto transport company.
